How did Hinduism reach Bali? – FAQ BaliFabulous

Hey back again with BaliFabulous Frequently Asked Questions I hope what I answer is useful for you going forward, let’s go to the questions!

Question :

How did Hinduism reach Bali?

Answer :

There are phases in history, when Hindus demand that Hinduism be recognized as a religion, not as a belief.
Of a number of islands that were only conquered by the Dutch in the early 20th century, Bali is one of them. The Dutch started attacking Bali in 1846 and conquered it in 1908.

However, Bali was already famous among orientalists, observers of Eastern and European life long before that. As mentioned by Michel Picard in “What’s in a Name? Hinduism Bali in The Making” (2004), European orientalists dubbed Bali as a living museum of Hindu-Javanese civilization. Bali is the only successor who lived when Hindu civilization waned in Java after the entry of Islam.
